Editor says, in this article we explore a point of divergence where the new religion of Christianity does not arise at all. There is of course a basic point of understanding as to whether Jesus was Jewish, or Christian. 1) In OTL, John recognizes Jesus as the son of God.
2) The interpretation of the quote from Matthew 5:17 is key to the understanding of whether breaking away from Judaism.

Eric Lipps commented on 2012-09-29 13:32:13 ~ Re Cassandra, the Christian/Jewish split actually occurred earlier, by the end of the first century of the Common Era; Christians, who were heavily influenced by the Greeks, were rejected as heretics by Jewish religious authorities, not least because they increasingly accepted converts not of Jewish blood. However, while what Jesus thought of himself can only be surmised, but there's no evidence that his disciples thought of themselves as anything but Jews.
