Comment from Mia Amani on Facebook: It could have gone either way had the Dutch not abandoned post; the Serbs may not have attacked or it could have ended in a massacre (as it did). In the case of the latter, Western European deaths would have caused sufficient outrage for an immediate full-scale intervention that could have saved many more lives. Here's an article I was reading recently on the subject.

I just do not have confidence in the moral authority of the UN or "International Community" to do so with motive untainted by self interest.
